Dr. Vijay Karan, fondly known as the first student of Netarhat School (Roll No. 1), is a distinguished paediatrician and a pillar of the Hatian community. A former Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics at A.N. Magadh Medical College, Gaya, he continues to serve society even after retirement through his private practice.

Now settled in Gaya, Dr. Karan is actively involved in several social initiatives, focusing particularly on providing education to underprivileged children. A guiding presence in the Netarhat alumni community, his visits are cherished for his blessings and heartfelt ashirvachan. His unwavering spirit and dedication to service continue to inspire generations of Hatians.

Prof. Prabhat Ranjan is the Vice Chancellor of D Y Patil International University, Pune, and a renowned Nuclear Fusion Scientist, Futurist, Educator, and Innovator. A graduate of IIT Kharagpur and the University of Delhi, he earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, after schooling at the Gurukul-style Netarhat School.

With nearly two decades of experience in nuclear fusion research in the US and India, he later served as a professor at DA-IICT, Gandhinagar, for 11 years. His innovations span India’s Moon Mission, wildlife conservation, assistive technologies, and brain-computer interfaces. From 2013–2018, he led TIFAC, India’s technology think tank, shaping key national policies including “Technology Vision 2035.” He has also contributed to national security strategies and authored a chapter on “Emerging and Disruptive Technologies” in a 2022 HarperCollins publication.

Over the past 38 years, I’ve dedicated my career to building businesses, fostering an ownership mindset, and delivering value to customers, employees, and shareholders. My journey has included growing startups and successfully leading them to acquisition by larger organizations.

The foundation of my approach lies in the ownership mentality I developed during my school days at Netarhat. This principle guided me while founding Techlead in the UK and co-founding Reflexis, an AI-driven SaaS company. Reflexis was later acquired by Zebra Technologies for $575 million, a milestone that further honed my leadership and strategic capabilities. I continue to believe in the principle of “अतदीप विहस्य” and strive to share what I’ve learned for the betterment of society.

Veteran Cdr Pradeep Prasad (Netarhat 1974 batch) is a Trustee of KRI Trust with over 37 years of leadership experience—21 years in the Indian Navy and 16+ years in global leadership roles at IBM. He was one of the six key contributors to the Navy’s strategic Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS).

His expertise spans strategic planning, large-scale IT programs, supply chain and infrastructure management, SDLC governance, and IT/ITES operations. He is also recognized as a pioneer in Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS), disaster recovery, and crisis management in India.

Manish Kapoor, from the 1987 batch of Netarhat, was the state topper in Class 10 in 1991, in 1991, scoring an impressive 91%. He has been associated with the India Today Group for the past 12 years, contributing significantly to the field of media. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Journalism from IGNOU, further deepening his engagement with the world of journalism.

Vivek Kumar, an alumnus of Netarhat Residential School, holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and has built a 15-year career in the information technology industry. He has held key roles such as Software Engineer, Project Lead, Project Manager, and Business Analyst. Beyond his professional life, Vivek is passionate about sports—especially cricket, football, carrom, and volleyball—and has a deep appreciation for music and lifelong learning. He currently resides in Singapore with his family, where he enjoys a vibrant, multicultural lifestyle with like-minded individuals.
